As a certified “Genussbike-Region” (which loosely translates to “pleasure-filled biking region”), the Gastein Valley is a true paradise for avid cyclists and bikers. In Dorfgastein, the Fulseck stands out with its countless mountain biking options – and the valley boasts a variety of cycling routes for every taste and skill level.
The most convenient cycle route leads directly from the village center via the Gruber Waldweg and the Heumoosalmweg to the Heumoosalm. From there it goes via the middle station of the Fusleck summit lift and the Reiterhütte back down to the valley. The circular route with an elevation gain of around 750 meters is an absolute pleasure and offers experienced bikers fantastic views of the Gastein Valley.
The ten-kilometre MTB single trail starts from the mountain station of the Panoramabahn in Grossarltal. It can be reached via a signposted mountain bike route from the mountain station of the Fulseck summit lift. You leave 960 meters of altitude behind you on this adventurous route. The single trail can also be started from Grossarl. To do this, first take the panorama lift to get to the starting point.
This relaxed six-kilometre tour starts and ends in the heart of Dorfgastein. A highlight for youngsters is the Kneipp pool – perfect for a refreshing break, especially on warm summer days.
Starting at Gemeindepark Dorfgastein, this sunny route spans just under 20 kilometres and includes a climb of around 800 metres. The scenic Amoseralm along the way makes for a delightful spot to stop for refreshments.
If you’re up for a challenge, you can conquer the 23.5-kilometre route to Fulseck’s summit – complete with a whopping 1,200 metres in elevation gain. Your efforts will be duly rewarded with stunning scenic vistas of the Hohe Tauern, Großglockner and Dachstein mountain ranges.
Right next to the Dorfgastein cable car parking lot is an attraction that is a hit with adults and children alike. Ride your bike over waves and through steep bends - with the pedals at a standstill. Experienced bike acrobats can also master the hills by jumping.
