Hiking in Dorfgastein

The Gastein Valley boasts a sprawling network of 600 kilometres of waymarked hiking trails. Some of the most beautiful routes can be found on Fulseck. The 2033-metre mountain serves as both the starting point and the destination for various hikes, ranging from leisurely to more challenging alpine routes. What’s more, various themed trails also start here. Along the way or after your hike, cosy mountain huts are the perfect spots to relax and refuel.

Tip for leisurely explorers: If you want to take it a little easier, Gipfelbahn Fulseck allows you to cover part of the uphill or the way back down to the valley by cable car!

To sharpen your senses: the barefoot path

The hike around the Spiegelsee lake is both exciting and relaxing. Before the start, it's time to take off your shoes: Step by step, different surfaces such as grass, stones and earth are walked on barefoot and consciously perceived. The contact with the ground gently massages the soles and stimulates the foot reflex zones - a blessing for the whole body.

Panoramic swings

The ideal opportunity to cover as much distance as possible in just one day is the panorama swing. During the summer season, the Fulseck summit lift, the Kieserlbahn and the Panoramabahn are in operation. This means you can travel comfortably on foot or by gondola between the Grossarl Valley and the Gastein Valley.

Tip: Are you in possession of an Almorama Card or a Berge & Thermen Card? Then you can use the Gastein cable cars as well as the Kieserlbahn and the Panoramabahn in Grossarl free of charge every day except Monday - ideal conditions for carefree hiking.

Whether for the journey to the starting point of a tour or in the event of missing equipment: Dorfgastein offers useful services.

  • The hiking bus makes getting to the Fulseck easier. With the mobility card, you can travel free of charge on public transport throughout the province of Salzburg from this summer.
  • Hiking poles and other equipment can be purchased at the Sport Egger sports store directly at the valley station.
