Bad Gastein

Empress Elisabeth Promenade

Named after Empress Sisi, this traditional path leads idyllically from Bad Gastein towards Böckstein. Historic charm, old villas and peaceful forest sections make this walk a journey through time with scenic views. 

Waterfall path

Following the impressive Gastein waterfall, this trail links the centre of Bad Gastein with the Bad Bruck district. Rushing water, spectacular views and charming rest spots create an unforgettable nature experience. 

Nassfeld nature trail

On the edge of Hohe Tauern National Park, this circular trail winds through a fascinating landscape of mountain meadows, glacial streams and alpine flora. Information boards and panoramic views turn this walk into a discovery tour through Gastein’s natural world. 

Bad Hofgastein

Achenpromenade

A gentle stroll along the Gasteiner Ache river, accompanied by the soothing sound of running water – perfect for a short break. 

Angertal

A historical walk to Knappenwelt Angertal mining museum, offering an insight into the region’s gold and silver mining past. Following in the miners’ footsteps, you’ll experience nature and history in a particularly vivid way. 

Gasteiner Höhenweg trail

This panoramic trail runs from Bad Gastein to Bad Hofgastein, around 100 metres above the valley floor. Magnificent views of the Gastein Valley and the surrounding mountains accompany the trail, which also passes the impressive natural monument ‘Gadaunerer Schlucht’ – a highlight for anyone who wants to enjoy nature with a view.

Dorfgastein

Village trail - nature experience trail

A family-friendly circular route starting at the Dorfgastein Tourist Office. The path passes an adventure playground and features several stations offering interesting insights into the village’s history and everyday life. 

Legend trail

From the Unterberg district to Klammstein, this themed trail takes you deep into Gastein’s world of legends. Ten information boards tell tales of ancient myths, mountain spirits and the valley’s special places. 

Dorfgasteiner Circular Trail

The circular trail leads through varied countryside, past open meadows, quiet forest edges and several lovingly designed rest areas with sweeping views. Again and again, panoramic views of the surrounding nature open up, occasionally accompanied by informative stations and small natural features.

Ideal connections for easy access

Most promenades start right in the centre of Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein or Dorfgastein, with plenty of parking available nearby. For those travelling sustainably, the starting points are also easy to reach by bus or train.
