My Gastein experience
Skiing, snowboarding, winter hiking or cross-country skiing: The Gastein valley offers endless ways to enjoy the snowy season. The true charm of this Alpine region lies in its variety. That’s why winter lovers of all ages will also find plenty to do beyond the slopes and trails. For instance, why not trade your ski boots for ice skates? Whether you’re gliding across the rink or trying your hand at Alpine curling, these classic winter activities are sure to warm your heart, even on the coldest days.
Right next to the Kursaal concert hall, Eislaufarena in Bad Hofgastein offers around 1,200 square metres of space for gliding, pirouetting and having fun on the ice. Even the youngest skaters can safely practise their skills on the spacious rink. And for an extra dose of winter fun, three adjacent Alpine curling lanes invite families and friends to try something new together.
Curling is a cherished tradition in Austria – and a great way to spend time together in the fresh mountain air. In the Gastein valley, several locations invite you to test your skills and challenge friends or family to a friendly match. Maybe the winning team even earns a round of mulled wine afterwards?
Did you know? Curling isn’t just a winter pastime in Gastein – it’s available all year round! In the warmer months, you can enjoy the game on well-maintained asphalt lanes. Whether as a fun summer alternative to hiking or a relaxed family activity, Alpine curling brings all generations together through movement, laughter and shared moments.
