My Gastein experience
Find true relaxation – and, along the way, yourself: In Bad Hofgastein, it comes naturally. Hofgastein is a “health tank”, a place where body and mind can recharge, heal and gain new energy. With every breath, stress gives way to soothing relaxation. This modern yet tradition-minded village in the middle of the Gastein valley gently leads you back to your own centre.
How does it do that? With a blend of sunshine and wide-open spaces, spectacular nature and invigorating thermal water, quiet moments of slowing down and a uniquely rich programme of cultural events. Indulgence also plays a major role in Bad Hofgastein: The lively village centre, with its many cafés, weekly markets and food events, is a hotspot for everyone who loves authentic cuisine. All of this comes together in a kind of alpine savoir-vivre that makes Bad Hofgastein a place of enjoyment and connection. For a break far away from home – yet wonderfully close to yourself.
The Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel ski area offers snow sports fans fantastic conditions for skiing and snowboarding. Those seeking their winter happiness away from the groomed slopes will find it in ski touring or freeriding on untouched powder runs.
The snowy landscape reveals its quieter side during cross-country skiing, winter hiking or winter forest bathing. And from a “bath” in the winter forest, it’s just a stone’s throw to a soak in the spa. A defining feature of the village is the Alpentherme Gastein, with its unique thermal water and health offers.
As a renowned congress destination, Bad Hofgastein regularly hosts international conventions, conferences and seminars – and is therefore well attuned to guests from all over the world. This is also reflected in the many other top events that take place in Bad Hofgastein throughout the year. Whether it’s concerts, Christmas markets, sporting competitions or art events: Bad Hofgastein is a place that is full of life.
From traditional family-run businesses to luxury hotels, Bad Hofgastein offers a wide range of places to stay. At selected partner establishments, admission to Alpentherme Gastein spa is even included. Whether you prefer to stay at an organic farm or a star-rated hotel: That feeling of being at home comes as part of the package when you check in at Bad Hofgastein.
Gamskarkogel and Schlossalm adventure mountains invite you to go on impressive hikes – from family walks with a tasty stop at a mountain hut to summit tours with panoramic views.
However, in Bad Hofgastein, you don’t just find relaxation at higher altitudes. Down in the valley, too, your energy levels effortlessly recharge during yoga or forest bathing. A visit to Alpentherme spa is also perfect for this – and not just as a bad-weather option.

40 musicians from the Philharmonie Salzburg under the direction of conductor Elisabeth Fuchs bring the mountains and the firmament to life.
There are numerous natural motifs in the symphonies and where better to showcase them than in the very place that inspired them: nature itself.
At the mountain station of the Schlossalmbahn and surrounded by imposing peaks such as the Mauskarspitze and Hirschkarspitze, concert guests can enjoy a wonderful evening of music.
