Whether you prefer skiing or snowboarding, freeriding or ski touring: Winter simply feels more intense in Gastein.
Four ski areas, over 200 kilometers of pistes and alpine expanses as far as the eye can see: skiing in Gastein stands for sporty descents, enjoyable moments and genuine relaxation. The mountain railroads combine guaranteed snow, panoramic views and comfort - complemented by the unique interplay of ski & spa.
If you’re spending your winter holiday in the Gastein valley you enjoy maximum variety: as part of the Ski amadé ski association, the region offers access to four ski areas with an extensive selection of slopes and over 200 kilometres of pistes for all skill levels – from leisurely to athletic.
The Dorfgastein-Großarltal ski area combines family friendliness with varied skiing fun: right at the entrance to the valley, a family ski mountain delights young and old alike with 70 kilometres of slopes. Several fun activities, practice areas, ski schools and slopes for all skill levels ensure fun, action and unforgettable winter moments.
The Bad Hofgastein-Bad Gastein ski area (Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel) is ideal for ambitious skiers, offering plenty of space for carving, long valley runs, modern lifts and spacious panoramic slopes. At the same time, the Angertal valley offers ideal conditions for beginners, those returning to skiing and families, with practice slopes and ski schools.
Nature lovers will find their happy place on the Graukogel, where they can enjoy traditional skiing, while the Sportgastein ski area, with its altitude of up to 2,680 metres, guaranteed snow until spring and freeride paradise with alpine panoramic views, is sure to delight.
Skiing in the Gastein Valley means: perfect turns, impressive mountain panoramas and a stop for refreshments as a highlight.
After the descent, rustic huts and fine cuisine await - the perfect way to round off a day's skiing.
In Gastein, après-ski is all about relaxation. After a day on the slopes, the two thermal spas with real thermal water invite you to switch off - whether relaxing with a mountain view or having fun in the water together for young and old.
Is it your first time on the slopes together with the little ones? The Gastein valley is the perfect place to introduce young talents to skiing in a relaxed atmosphere. Lovingly designed practice areas and children’s parks (GASTI Park Dorfgastein, XXL Gasti Park Angertal & GASTI Park Stubnerkogel) offer the ideal mix of fun and safety. The experienced instructors at the local ski schools know exactly how to help young snow enthusiasts master their first turns in the snow, teaching them the basics during playful and child-friendly lessons.
Your children don’t have their own gear yet? The region’s well-equipped ski rental shops provide everything they need for a fun-filled day on the slopes.
Looking for a change of pace? There are countless ways to explore the Gastein valley beyond the ski slopes. A wide network of trails provides a stunning alpine backdrop for cross-country skiing. Numerous winter hiking trails invite all those seeking tranquillity and unspoilt nature. And for families, the snow-sure region offers perfect conditions for fun-filled tobogganing adventures. And after all that winter action? That’s when the warm thermal waters of Gastein provide the most relaxing way to end an eventful day in the snow.
